Simon and Bailey, best pals

Simon, that furry little white guy above, has been staying us with us since Friday, when our friends headed down to Mexico to celebrate their first wedding anniversary. We were a little worried the dogs wouldn’t get along (Bailey outweighs Simon by about 70 lbs) but our little freight train has successfully toned down the wrestlemania. Simon can hold his own though, and his speed and agility have served him well.
Not too much to report, just wanted to share the photo of the quizzical dudes (above) and the video of them playing (below).

Bailey’s big weekend

Bailey's wiped out

He went to dog day at the Bedford Splash Park, where he found lots of dogs to play with and lots of different pools to play in. And he had a lot of fun with his friend Judge, who stayed over with us Saturday night. Check out some more photos from the weekend.

Ahhh, I’m cute

Bailey at sunset

Just another cute photo of Bailey, while we were out walking on the Trinity. Couldn’t resist.

A fish called Bailey

A fish called Bailey

Who knew we had a little fish on our hands? After two or three tentative, short swims in the Trinity River behind our house, Bailey swam and swam and swam at Jason’s dad’s house in Shreveport. We couldn’t keep him out of the water. But watch out, he’s like a little shark when he comes after you with his sharp puppy teeth. Finally, though, it seems like the little daggers may be starting to fall out.

Big ol’ Bailey

Big ol' Bailey

We leave town for five days and Bailey is twice as big as he was when we left. How is that possible? The change is startling. What was that kennel feeding him? We’re heading to the vet on Saturday, so we’ll get his official weight. I’m guessing at least 40 pounds, which is sixteen more than he was last time, less than a month ago. And his paws are massive. He’s going to be a big dog…

Update: So I’m not a good judge of weight. Bailey weighed 28 pounds, not 40 as I guessed. But he seems a whole lot bigger. And more mature. The biting has dropped off dramatically, and he plays great with other dogs.

Our new family member

Bailey

We adopted a 2-month-old Lab/Golden Retriever mix at the Humane Society this weekend. He’s pretty darn cute. We named him Bailey. Here are a few photos; more to come. (Link opens in a new window.)
