Two weeks old and growing

Two weeks ago Maya was born! Kind of hard to believe! We went to the doctor this morning for her checkup and they said everything looks great. And she has gained a lot of weight already, which is comforting to me. It feels like she eats constantly, but I’m still happy to know that she’s getting all the food that she needs. She weighs 9 pounds, 2 ounces, so she had regained her birth weight (8 pounds, 14 ounces) and then some.

Jason and I are both hanging in there. Maya is a great napper during they day, and can be at night. But more often than not she has a streak of about 4 hours each night where she wants to eat almost every hour. So that’s been a little tough! But hopefully it’ll get better soon. By the end of the night she almost always gives us two longer streaks of sleep though, so we manage to start the day decently rested. The doctor said she wants us to start putting her in her crib during the day before she falls asleep for a nap so she can start to learn to soothe herself and fall asleep on her own, so we’re going to give it a shot once a day at least.

She usually takes at least one solid nap in her crib each day, so we get a little cuddle break. (But it is tempting not to put her down while she sleeps. She’s just so precious and we could stare for hours!)

But all and all we’re loving our days at home as a family. We don’t leave the couch too often but think that’s a great way to spend the first weeks of Maya’s life. One day we’ll get back to getting out and about a little more often!

I hope Maya has had time to keep up with what's going on around her as well....she seems to have some time each day when she's wide awake! Have Mom & Dad talked to her about TCU, hydrating on long hikes, the value of a cold beverage at the end of a hard day, etc.? And, has she got her Press Pass yet?
Seriously, she has a very loving parents who are already prepared for whatever comes her way.

ps: Don't forget a little walk will do wonders for Bailey!

Just keep smiling when I look at those pictures~ she is such a doll! I definitely see Kari in her, but I think she may be Daddy's girl anyway!

Hope you two are getting some rest when you can......and how's Bailey holding up?

    Love to all.....Sandi

Okay...one week until the wedding and then maybe I can plan a trip to come see little Maya in person! I need a hug!!!! She is beautiful and on my desktop at school. Today my 3rd graders wrote letters to the bride and groom and one of them asked if that baby on the computer was theirs. That made me laugh! But one day.....
Hugs and kisses to little Miss Maya!

    love, Patti

So glad to hear that the Doctor is pleased with Maya's 2-week checkup. And already over 9#, that's great.

Maya, you are doing so well and I know you are enjoying having Mom and Dad around so much. And you can surely tell we are all thrilled to have you in the family. You are joy for all of us.

Thanks for all the photos. Maya is always smiling. Keep them coming.

    I love you...all 3 of you.
