The time is flying by already! Hard to believe Maya Makenzie has been part of our lives for 11 days already. We’ve been having a blast, spending large chunks of the day just cuddling with our little girl. She loves to sleep in her mom and dad’s arms! We’ve perfected the art of not getting out of bed until at least 10 or 11, which we hadn’t done for years before her arrival. We have the old cradle Jason and Jeff slept in when they were babies in our room, so when she’s willing to sleep somewhere other than our arms that’s where she sleeps at night. Makes it easier for me to just grab her and feed her without having to leave bed. Thus making it easy for the three of us to hang out there late into the morning, too! And try to sneak in a little more sleep, which is hard to come by with her eating habits!
Day by day I’m starting to feel a little better. It’s been a slow recovery for me, (came away from delivery with a large tear that’s been hard to recover from… more on the entire labor story when I have more time to process the details) but I’m hoping in another week I’ll be much closer to full energy at least. We went to see the lactation consultant at my doctor’s office last week, and she said it looks like were doing everything right, even though it hasn’t been the easiest process. But Maya and I are getting better every day I think! I’ve only had a few meltdowns thanks to lack of sleep!
Maya seems to be doing great. She’s eating like an all-star, and spends most of the rest of her day snoozing. She’s gotten to meet her Grandad already, and Grandma will be here on Saturday to spend some time with her. She’s also had some friends trickling in to say hi. She’s also been on a couple walks around the block (as far as mom can make it) and made a trip outside in the Baby Bjorn. We made a trip to Babies ‘R Us yesterday for a few things we needed, her first outing that wasn’t to a doctor’s office. She was a trooper and didn’t make much of a peep the entire time. And of course, she’s still as cute as ever!
