Maya’s first week

In some ways it seems like it’s been a long week. But at the same time (and we’re beginning to sound like those parents we never thought we’d become) it’s hard to believe Maya’s first week has gone by so fast. (She’ll be one week old tomorrow at 3:37 in the afternoon.)

Maya made her first trip to the doctor for a jaundice check. She’s a-ok. The nurse practitioner we saw thought Maya looked like a healthy, vigorous girl who seems to be getting plenty to eat. If her diapers are any indication, that’s true. Very true. Sheesh.

Maya got to leave the house two other times so far, once to tag along while her mom and I got flu shots, and for a jaunt around the backyard with Bailey in her Baby Bjorn. Only took us about half an hour to figure out how that thing worked. I know that’s only the beginning of putting things together for her; luckily this one didn’t take batteries.

We’re considering ourselves very lucky with Maya’s early sleeping habits. After a rough first night when she was up (seemingly) every 5 minutes, she’s settled in to waking up every 2-3 hours for a meal the last couple nights. We’re hoping that continues. Actually, we’re pulling for more like 4-5 hours, since we were told she was doing well enough for that at the doctor’s office. Come on Maya, let’s try that tonight.

So, with that, we’ll leave you with what you actually came for: more photos…..

Maya is a doll! Love the pic of her daddy holding her and her daddy is just snoozing away...a little tired, Jason? I do remember those days! Keep the pictures coming so we can watch her grow up on her website! Still can't wait to see her!

    Jason and Kari,

Maya is a doll. So excited I got to sneak in a visit Sunday. I know you are proud of your little one. She is beautiful.

And what a great report from the doctor and sleeping for 2-3 hours...wow, that's great. Hope you are getting some rest too. And thanks for the great web site; Maya's photos are wonderful. Keep them coming.

Give Maya a big hug and kiss for me. Can't wait to see your beautiful daughter (and you too) again real soon.

    All my love,
    Dad

    Maya,

So glad I was able to run over to Fort Worth Sunday to see you. Your photos are great...but I must say you are even more beautiful in person.

I was so excited and holding you was really special. Glad I could get Mom and Dad to let loose of you for a few minutes. But I understand...we all love you bunches. Can't wait to see you again.

I love you Maya. Enjoy all your firsts!!
