In some ways it seems like it’s been a long week. But at the same time (and we’re beginning to sound like those parents we never thought we’d become) it’s hard to believe Maya’s first week has gone by so fast. (She’ll be one week old tomorrow at 3:37 in the afternoon.)
Maya made her first trip to the doctor for a jaundice check. She’s a-ok. The nurse practitioner we saw thought Maya looked like a healthy, vigorous girl who seems to be getting plenty to eat. If her diapers are any indication, that’s true. Very true. Sheesh.
Maya got to leave the house two other times so far, once to tag along while her mom and I got flu shots, and for a jaunt around the backyard with Bailey in her Baby Bjorn. Only took us about half an hour to figure out how that thing worked. I know that’s only the beginning of putting things together for her; luckily this one didn’t take batteries.
We’re considering ourselves very lucky with Maya’s early sleeping habits. After a rough first night when she was up (seemingly) every 5 minutes, she’s settled in to waking up every 2-3 hours for a meal the last couple nights. We’re hoping that continues. Actually, we’re pulling for more like 4-5 hours, since we were told she was doing well enough for that at the doctor’s office. Come on Maya, let’s try that tonight.
So, with that, we’ll leave you with what you actually came for: more photos…..
