Kari and I put down 100 pieces of sod (she insisted that she help, despite my objections) this weekend. We had been living with a huge dirt patch at the front of the backyard for quite a while, ever since Bailey tore it out long ago. The area is right where he turns around during our never-ending games of fetch, so we’re working on changing the pattern a little bit so he doesn’t damage the new sod before it gets a little better hold.
In an effort to save our sod, though, we’re leaving him inside for the forseeable future. That means, we have to keep the big guy worn out. If he was outside he’d be tearing out the sod. Inside, there’s the carpet. He’s equal opportunity. So, the goal is to keep him as tired as humanly (caninely?) possible. To that end, I took him to the rain-soaked dog park tonight, where he had a ball playing in the huge puddles. The video doesn’t quite do it justice, but post-rainy day dog park trips are definitely our new favorite.
